Types of Manuscripts

GAHWA accepts several types of scholarly contributions, with priority given to empirical research articles. These include original research articles, theoretical or conceptual papers, systematic literature reviews, and research-based case studies. Opinion pieces, purely descriptive reports, or non-academic writings are not considered for publication.

General Requirements

Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal. Authors are responsible for ensuring the authenticity of their work and compliance with academic integrity standards. Manuscripts should be written in clear academic Indonesian or English and must follow the journal’s official template. The recommended length of a manuscript is approximately 4,000 to 5,000 words, including references, tables, and figures. Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.

Manuscript Structure

For empirical research articles, the manuscript should be organized systematically to reflect standard scientific reporting. It should begin with a concise and informative title, followed by the names of the authors, institutional affiliations, and the corresponding author’s email address. The abstract must be provided in both Indonesian and English, followed by three to five keywords that represent the core concepts of the study.

The main body of the article typically consists of an introduction that outlines the research background, identifies the research gap, states the objectives, and highlights the novelty of the study. This is followed by a methodology section describing the research design, participants or data sources, data collection procedures, analytical techniques, and validity or trustworthiness measures. The results section presents the research findings clearly, while the discussion interprets those findings in relation to existing theories and previous studies, emphasizing the study’s academic contribution. The article concludes with a concise summary of the main findings, implications, and recommendations for future research or practice.

Conceptual or literature-based papers should present a coherent analytical framework, critical discussion of relevant theories or studies, and clear implications for the development of Islamic education.

Abstract and Keywords

The abstract should be written as a single paragraph of approximately 150–250 words. It must briefly describe the purpose of the study, methodology, principal findings, and scholarly contribution. Keywords should consist of three to five terms that reflect the essential topics of the manuscript and facilitate indexing.

Citation and References

All references must follow the Chicago Manual Style 18th (Notes and Bibliography). Authors should ensure that their reference list is dominated by primary scholarly sources, particularly peer-reviewed journal articles. A minimum of twenty references is required, with at least eighty percent drawn from primary sources and a majority published within the last ten years. The use of international scholarly sources is strongly recommended to enhance the academic impact of the manuscript.

Originality and Contribution

Authors must clearly articulate the novelty and contribution of their study, especially in advancing knowledge, policy, or practice in Islamic Religious Education. Manuscripts that merely repeat established ideas without offering new insights are unlikely to be accepted.

Language and Transliteration

Manuscripts must employ formal academic language that is clear, precise, and coherent. Arabic terms should follow recognized transliteration standards, and citations of Qur’anic verses or Hadith must include appropriate references. Authors are encouraged to ensure linguistic accuracy prior to submission.

Tables, Figures, and Illustrations

Tables and figures should be presented clearly, numbered consecutively, and accompanied by descriptive titles. Any material reproduced from other sources must include proper attribution. Visual elements should be of sufficient quality for publication.

Publication Ethics

GAHWA adheres to international standards of publication ethics. Authors must guarantee that their submission is free from plagiarism, data fabrication, or unethical research practices. All listed authors should have made significant contributions to the work, and any potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed. Duplicate submission to multiple journals is strictly prohibited.

Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process. The editorial board reserves the right to reject manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s scope, academic standards, or ethical requirements. Authors may be requested to revise their manuscripts in accordance with reviewers’ comments before final acceptance.
