Types of Manuscripts

1. General Policy

Khazanah: Journal of Islamic Education and Science welcomes original scholarly manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in Islamic education, educational sciences, and related interdisciplinary fields. Submitted manuscripts must align with the journal's focus and scope, demonstrate academic rigor, and make a clear contribution to existing scholarship.

The journal considers manuscripts based on empirical research, conceptual analysis, and systematic examination of relevant scholarly literature. All submissions are subject to initial editorial screening and, if they meet the journal's requirements, peer review in accordance with the journal's editorial and publication policies.

The following manuscript categories are eligible for consideration.

2. Accepted Manuscript Categories

2.1 Original Research Articles

Original Research Articles report findings from original empirical investigations conducted using appropriate research methods. These articles should present a clear research problem, relevant theoretical or conceptual foundations, a transparent methodology, systematically analyzed findings, and a discussion of their significance.

Research may employ qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods approaches, as appropriate to the research questions and objectives. Relevant designs may include case studies, surveys, experiments, classroom action research, field research, and other methodologically justified empirical investigations.

Authors are expected to explain the research context, data sources, sampling or participant selection procedures, data collection techniques, analytical procedures, and relevant ethical considerations.

2.2 Systematic Literature Review Articles

Systematic Literature Review Articles synthesize and critically evaluate existing scholarly literature through a clearly defined and reproducible review methodology.

These manuscripts should explain the review objectives, research questions, information sources or databases, search strategies, eligibility criteria, study selection procedures, and methods of data extraction and synthesis.

Where appropriate, authors may use established reporting frameworks, such as PRISMA, to improve the transparency and reproducibility of the review process. The review should provide a substantive synthesis of the literature, identify research patterns and gaps, and explain the implications for future research or practice.

2.3 Conceptual and Theoretical Articles

Conceptual and Theoretical Articles develop, examine, or refine concepts, theories, analytical frameworks, or scholarly arguments relevant to the journal's focus and scope.

These manuscripts should demonstrate a clear conceptual contribution supported by relevant and credible scholarly sources. Authors are expected to explain the theoretical foundations, develop a coherent line of argument, critically engage with existing scholarship, and clarify the implications of the proposed framework or argument.

A conceptual article should offer more than a descriptive summary of existing literature; it should demonstrate critical analysis, theoretical development, or a meaningful reinterpretation of established ideas.

2.4 Methodological Articles

Methodological Articles present, develop, adapt, or critically evaluate research methods, analytical procedures, assessment instruments, or methodological frameworks relevant to Islamic education and related scientific fields.

These manuscripts should explain the methodological problem being addressed, the rationale for the proposed approach, its procedures, and its potential contribution to research quality or methodological practice. Where empirical testing or validation is relevant, the supporting evidence should be presented transparently.

2.5 Educational Practice and Innovation Articles

Educational Practice and Innovation Articles examine evidence-based innovations, instructional strategies, curriculum development, learning media, educational technology, assessment practices, or institutional initiatives relevant to the journal's scope.

These manuscripts should clearly describe the educational context, the rationale for the innovation, the implementation process, and the evidence used to assess its outcomes or significance. Authors should critically discuss the findings, limitations, and implications for educational practice.

Descriptions of activities or innovations without sufficient analytical depth, supporting evidence, or scholarly contribution may not meet the journal's publication standards.

3. General Requirements for All Manuscript Categories

Regardless of category, all submitted manuscripts must:

  1. Demonstrate relevance to the journal's focus and scope.

  2. Present an original scholarly contribution and engage appropriately with existing literature.

  3. Follow the journal's prescribed manuscript structure, formatting requirements, and reference style.

  4. Provide accurate and verifiable citations and references.

  5. Comply with applicable research ethics requirements and the journal's publication ethics policies.

  6. Avoid plagiarism, duplicate publication, simultaneous submission to another journal, and other forms of publication misconduct.

  7. Include all required declarations and supporting documents specified in the Author Guidelines and submission system.

  8. Comply with the journal's policies on authorship, conflicts of interest, research integrity, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence, where applicable.

4. Editorial Screening and Peer Review

The editorial team initially assesses each submission for relevance to the journal's focus and scope, compliance with the Author Guidelines, originality, scholarly quality, and completeness of the required documentation.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening may proceed to peer review in accordance with the journal's stated review procedure. Submission does not guarantee acceptance or publication. Editorial decisions are based on the manuscript's quality, relevance, originality, methodological or conceptual rigor, reviewers' recommendations, and the editor's independent assessment.

The journal reserves the right to return submissions for technical correction or reject manuscripts that do not meet its editorial requirements.

5. Manuscript Length and Formatting

Manuscript length, section structure, citation style, reference requirements, language standards, and file-format specifications are governed by the journal's Author Guidelines.

Authors must consult the current Author Guidelines before submission. If specific word limits or reference requirements apply to particular manuscript categories, these requirements will be stated explicitly in the relevant guidelines.

6. Policy Consistency

The manuscript categories stated in this policy must be consistent with the information provided on the journal's Aims and Scope, Author Guidelines, and Submissions pages.

The editorial team periodically reviews these pages to ensure that the categories of manuscripts accepted by the journal are clearly defined, accurately described, and consistently communicated to prospective authors.
