Publication Discussion

POST-PUBLICATION DISCUSSION POLICY

Al-Ibrah: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Keilmuan Islam recognizes the importance of scholarly dialogue and constructive criticism in advancing academic knowledge. The journal encourages readers, researchers, authors, and other members of the academic community to engage in responsible post-publication discussions concerning articles published in the journal.

Post-publication discussion provides an opportunity to clarify research findings, address methodological concerns, correct misunderstandings, and contribute to the continued development of scholarly knowledge in Islamic education and related fields.

1. Scope of Post-Publication Discussion

Post-publication discussions may address the following matters:

  1. Theoretical or conceptual arguments presented in a published article.

  2. Research methodology, data analysis, and interpretation of findings.

  3. The validity, reliability, and reproducibility of research findings, where applicable.

  4. The accuracy of references, citations, and supporting evidence.

  5. Ethical concerns or potential errors that may affect the interpretation or integrity of a published article.

  6. Other scholarly issues relevant to the journal's focus and scope.

All discussions must be academically relevant, evidence-based, respectful, and consistent with the principles of publication ethics.

2. Submission of Letters to the Editor

Readers and researchers may submit a letter to the editor to provide comments, questions, or critical responses to previously published articles.

A letter to the editor should:

  • Clearly identify the article being discussed, including its title, author(s), publication year, and DOI or article URL, where available.

  • Present a clear and relevant academic argument.

  • Support claims with appropriate evidence and references, where necessary.

  • Maintain professional, respectful, and constructive language.

  • Avoid personal attacks, defamatory statements, and unsupported allegations.

  • Disclose any relevant conflicts of interest.

All submissions must comply with the journal's applicable submission requirements and are subject to editorial assessment before publication.

3. Editorial Assessment

The editorial team will assess submitted post-publication discussions to determine their relevance, academic value, factual basis, and compliance with the journal's publication ethics policies.

Where appropriate, the editor may request revisions, seek independent expert advice, or invite the original author to respond. The journal reserves the right to decline submissions that are outside its scope, lack sufficient scholarly merit, contain unsupported allegations, or do not comply with editorial and ethical standards.

The editorial assessment will be conducted fairly and impartially, without discrimination based on the author's institutional affiliation, academic position, or personal background.

4. Right of Reply

When a post-publication discussion raises substantive questions or criticisms concerning a published article, the original author may be invited to provide a response.

The response should address the issues raised with appropriate evidence, academic reasoning, and professional language. Both the original discussion and the author's response may be published together or separately, depending on the editorial assessment and the journal's publication procedures.

The opportunity to respond is intended to promote academic dialogue and does not automatically imply that the original article is incorrect or that the criticism is valid.

5. Handling Errors and Ethical Concerns

Post-publication discussions that identify possible factual errors, methodological weaknesses, ethical concerns, or other issues affecting the reliability of a published article will be evaluated by the editorial team.

Depending on the nature and significance of the concern, the journal may:

  1. Request clarification or additional information from the author.

  2. Invite independent expert assessment.

  3. Publish a correction when a material error requires correction.

  4. Publish an expression of concern when substantial questions remain unresolved.

  5. Retract an article when the findings or publication are no longer considered reliable or when other grounds for retraction are established.

Any corrective action will follow the journal's applicable publication ethics policies and will be communicated transparently to readers. Post-publication criticism alone does not automatically constitute grounds for correction or retraction.

6. Editorial Independence and Ethical Standards

All post-publication discussions and responses must adhere to the principles of academic integrity, fairness, transparency, and respect. The editorial team will protect the confidentiality of unpublished submissions and personal information in accordance with applicable editorial procedures.

Editorial decisions concerning post-publication discussions will be based on scholarly merit, relevance, supporting evidence, and ethical considerations. The journal will not permit post-publication discussions to be used for personal attacks, harassment, or the promotion of unsupported claims.

7. Transparency and Scholarly Accountability

Al-Ibrah: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Keilmuan Islam is committed to maintaining a transparent and accountable scholarly record. When a post-publication discussion or response is accepted for publication, the journal will provide appropriate bibliographic information and links to the relevant article, where applicable.

Corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions will be handled in accordance with the journal's relevant policies. The journal encourages constructive academic engagement as an essential part of maintaining research quality, publication integrity, and the continuous development of knowledge.
